Suzuki Fronx Teased for Malaysia: Could This Be the Brand’s Next Big SUV Launch?

Suzuki Malaysia has sparked excitement with a teaser post on its official Facebook page, hinting at the arrival of a new model. The image shows the silhouette of a car accompanied by the caption, “What’s next?”, prompting fans to guess between three potential models.

However, the distinctive outline and lighting signature strongly suggest the model in question is the Suzuki Fronx. This compact crossover was recently showcased at the 2025 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show, and it appears Malaysia might be next.

Earlier, during the grand opening of Suzuki Malaysia’s flagship showroom in Petaling Jaya, Masafumi Harano, Executive General Manager of Automobil Marketing for Asia, Latin America, and Oceania at Suzuki Motor Corporation, mentioned that a new model was in the pipeline for the Malaysian market. Today’s teaser aligns perfectly with that announcement, further fueling speculation that the Fronx is indeed coming.

The Suzuki Fronx measures 3,995 mm in length, 1,765 mm in width, and 1,550 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,520 mm – positioning it squarely in the B-segment SUV category. If launched in Malaysia, it will compete directly with models like the Honda WR-V, Perodua Ativa, and Chery Tiggo 4 Pro.

In Indonesia, the Fronx is powered by a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine, producing 101 hp and 135 Nm of torque, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. A mild-hybrid (MHEV) variant is also available, delivering 105 hp and 138 Nm, and includes a 12V lithium-ion battery and an Integrated Starter Generator (ISG), with transmission options including a five-speed manual or the six-speed automatic.

Styling-wise, the Fronx features a bold front fascia reminiscent of the Hyundai Kona, complete with split headlight design. Daytime running lights (DRLs) sit near the bonnet line, while the main tri-cluster headlights are integrated into the bumper.

Inside, the Fronx is equipped with modern conveniences such as a 9-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless phone charging, a heads-up display (HUD), and rear air vents.

Should the Fronx arrive in Malaysia, it will mark Suzuki’s shift towards more mainstream, accessible models, compared to its current niche offerings like the Swift Sport and Jimny. Given its competitors are priced around the RM100,000 range, we can expect the Fronx to target a similar price bracket.

Stay tuned for more updates as we await the official confirmation.
