Tesla Recalls Model 3 and Model Y in Europe Over Potential Brake Line Corrosion

Tesla Issues Recall for Selected European Models Due to Brake Line Corrosion Risk

Tesla is initiating a recall for specific vehicles manufactured at its Gigafactory Berlin due to a potential brake line corrosion issue, as reported by Not A Tesla App. The recall affects selected Model 3 and Model Y units from model years 2024 and 2025.

The recall includes:

  • The facelifted Model 3 “Highland”
  • The pre-facelift Model Y

The newly updated Model Y “Juniper”, designated as a 2026 model, is not affected.

Although the total number of affected units has yet to be confirmed via an official regulatory notice, Tesla has already started contacting owners in Europe ahead of the expected announcement.

What Tesla Will Do:

Tesla will carry out two primary actions on affected vehicles:

  1. Brake fluid replacement
  2. A software update related to the vehicle’s brake configuration

During the brake fluid service, technicians will inspect brake lines. If corrosion is found, the brake lines will be replaced. However, Tesla reportedly does not expect widespread hardware replacements—only the fluid replacement is considered necessary in most cases.

This recall must be performed at a Tesla Service Center, as Mobile Ranger support is not applicable due to regulations involving the handling of used brake fluid.

Estimated Service Time:

  • Model Y: ~60 minutes
  • Model 3: ~90 minutes
(May vary if hardware replacement is needed.)

How Owners Will Be Notified:

Impacted owners will be notified via the Tesla mobile app (during service appointment scheduling) or via email. No action is required until contacted by Tesla.
